You Have The Power

morning joy

You have power over how you respond to life. It may not feel like it right now, if you’ve been giving the enemy control of how you see people and circumstances. Others will offend, reject, misuse, and betray you. Someone you trusted may hurt you. Difficult circumstances may threaten your plans and your comfort. But no one else controls how you react to any of it. You are the one to whom God has given the authority -and the responsibility- for all of your thoughts, words, and actions. You don’t get to pick and choose what unforgiveness you’re going to hold, what fears rule your relationships, and what few things you’ll let God heal, and still expect Him to bless all your choices.

There is a way, right now, to take back your power and thrive in it. It’s to live so fully in response to God’s presence, to who He wants to be for you right now, that nothing else, good or bad, has a greater impact. Stop focusing on the negative, on every little thing that might go wrong. Seriously, stop it. Determine to be so in awe of God that no fear can compare in power. Stop rehearsing every failure you’ve had, or how others have failed you. “Love keeps no record of wrongs!” (1 Cor. 13)- Choose to live so aware of His love for you, that you have nothing else to give your relationships and circumstances but an overflow of that love.

“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1.7).
