Your Heart is Known

“Look at the birds. They don’t plant, or harvest, or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to Him than they are?” (Matt. 6.26)

Your heart is known.

When that revelation hits you, it can be disturbing, even frightening. Because you know what you’re really like, all you’ve thought, said, and done. You may even get worried about the stuff you’ve forgotten you’ve done. But then it becomes clear: if your heart is known, you don’t have to hide it. You begin to see just how much of your heart and mind have been taken up with hiding your true self- whether because of your own shame, or because you feared failure, loss, ridicule, and rejection.

The fear of rejection is really a core lie, isn’t it? You’re so afraid of being unacceptable for who you are that you hide- you suppress your own identity, and project an image of who you think others expect you to be. But it’s exhausting, and instead of making relationships easier, it creates more frustration, insecurity, and conflict.

Your heart is known. Be glad! You are free from having to hide and carry your sins, failures, and mistakes. God knows them all, and wants to take that burden from you.

Your heart is known. You never have to hide who you are, because you’ve asked Jesus to renew your life. You are a masterpiece in progress.

Your heart is known. And you are wanted. God loves who you are, the real you, and the you He sees you becoming.
