Peace Rejects Rejection

GAP

Few things tempt you to give in to old patterns of thoughts and actions as powerfully as rejection. Even the fear of someone judging, wounding, or abandoning you will make you shrink back from going after what God has for you. You change that by recognizing every day who God wants to be for you, and who you are in Him. You need to see how important you are to Him, how deeply you are loved, how completely invested He is in maturing your true identity. That identity is completely at peace—whole, strong, and courageous. His peace displaces rejection.

You know peace is a state. But sometimes you forget who governs that state. If you look at circumstances and relationships in your own limited strength, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. So don’t. Don’t look at them alone. Do whatever it takes to remind yourself you aren’t on your own in managing your contentment and confidence. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Peace is His nature, and peace His kingdom. It’s His delight to transform your nature, and teach you to live from His kingdom. To become as peace–full as He is.

The moment you experience rejection, or stress, fear, or anything negative for that matter, stop and ask God to help you see all the parts of your life from His peace, from His grace, from His joy. Allow yourself to be so overwhelmed with His peace that no matter what people say, do, or don’t do, they can’t steal from who you are, because nothing is more powerful than the certainty of His love for you. You’ll start to see the past as powerless to harm you, offenses as opportunities to grow and thrive, and people for who they are capable of becoming, in the same peace God is loving you with. A peace so powerful, rejection gets rejected.

“For the kingdom of God is…righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14.17)
