Freedom’s First Step

Things don’t always make sense. But if you torture yourself wondering why something did or didn’t happen, you’ll chain yourself to that offense, and all you experience will get filtered through that unanswered moment. Your heart and mind can’t rest in the anxiety of events you can’t change.

Stop punishing yourself and others for the past. Living in regret isn’t from God, it’s Satan’s twist on repentance. Regret is a lie that says you must bear the burden of being judge and jailer of yourself and others. It demands you live in your fears and wounds like a steel cage, preventing you from enjoying anything or trusting anyone, including God.

Repentance is a lifestyle of freedom that begins with asking and giving forgiveness, empowering you to turn away from a self-destructive mindset to thinking as God does about your life: positively, powerfully, and purposefully.

The only place your heart and mind are at rest is in the unfiltered presence of God, letting Him tell you who He wants to be for you, who you are to Him, and what the next step is in your life and relationships.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).
