The revelation of who you are in Christ is relational, and the fulfillment of what he’s made possible is positional. Both of them require you to move forward. Your relationship with God needs to grow and mature to understand who he wants to be for you and who you’re becoming. And the amazing opportunities and assignments he has for you won’t get fulfilled just waiting for them—you often have to take a step or two into the dark before you can find the lights.
But when the process of becoming all God sees you feels exhausting and overwhelming, take a deep breath, and just listen. If everything still seem dark, remember the relational part. Jesus is right there with you. He is your peace in every step. In whatever you feel he wants you to do, or wherever he wants you to go, it’s going to be in his peace.
Stay here until his peace strengthens your heart and renews your mind. Let him encourage and equip you with all you need for your next step. Chances are, if you’ve been having such a difficult time, it’s an important one. But there really is nothing to fear in taking it—you won’t need to stumble around looking for the light. In his peace, joy, hope, wisdom, goodness, grace, and love—you are becoming his light.
