Rejecting Rejection

Rejection is powerful—so powerful, you can’t let it live. If left to grow, it will completely take over your life, twisting your mind and breaking your heart over and over. It will make fear your bodyguard, self–pity your best friend, and bitterness your theology teacher.

No, this is not easy. But that’s because it’s so important. Letting God lead you in letting go of the bitterness, self–pity, and fear is the only way to heal your heart, and the only way to destroy rejection’s influence over your mind.

Don’t try to fix all this yourself, and don’t lose yourself trying to fully understand it. Your pain is great, but I know God’s grace is greater than every betrayal, offense, and lie. It’s strong enough to help you forgive those who’ve hurt you, and powerful enough to help you live in the truth of how unceasingly loved and joyfully celebrated you are.

Just begin with that one thought, even if you can’t yet feel it—beyond everything that’s happened, you are completely and relentlessly loved. From that place, Jesus and you can do anything.
