The Change Choice

Post–birthday, “I’m only gonna count every other year from now on” thought:

Change is coming. That’s not a prophetic word, or an adult diaper ad, just a fact of life. So, you have a choice to make. You can resist it by anchoring your world to past events and old ways of thinking. Or, you can have a conversation with God about who he wants to be for you right now, what his provisions are for this new situation, and what your next step is with him in making this season of your life all it can be.

I have off–kilter moments like everyone else, and not every day is pain–free. But the negative impact they have is less and shorter than in the past. That’s part of who you get to be in Jesus—an increasingly joyful, peaceful person who, when briefly tempted away from your identity in God, is able to bring yourself back to his joy and peace faster and faster each time until it’s nearly instantaneous.

The enemy is finding it harder and harder to get you to agree with his lies, and is getting frustrated and exhausted trying to do it. Instead of you being discouraged by the devil, you’re becoming impervious, intimidating, and depressing to him.

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you” (Isaiah 26:3).
