Looks Like Rain

Keep thinking/praying about rain—too much rain back east, and rain needed over the fires here in California. And it keeps reminding me of another kind of rain:

“Those that are mine are like refreshing dew, like rain on dry grass to everyone around them. But they’re like lions to the enemy” (Micah 5:7-8, paraphrased).

Those who know Jesus are empowered to be both a life–giving rain to people, and an unstoppable lion to every principality and power in the spiritual realm. It’s such a powerful reality to me, I had the reference from Micah tattooed on my back after beating cancer. It reminds me to look for those needing living waters of grace, healing, hope, and blessing, and to stay aware of hate, pain, despair, and suffering, asking God how I can displace them. Usually, that means living in the opposite spirit.

The opposite spirit stops looking for ways to validate your past pain, and lives in God’s joy no matter what’s happened. It stops judging the failures of others, instead judging how much grace they need to succeed. The opposite spirit stops focusing on what others have, and lives in thankfulness for all God has given. The opposite spirit doesn’t retreat in fear of failure, loss, or rejection, but lives confidently in faith, hope, and love. The opposite spirit refuses to speak negatively, and instead rains the blessings of all God is saying to every relationship and circumstance in your life.

Every day is truly a gift, best celebrated by overflowing every good thing God’s given you. You are the heaven–sent rain that enables people to thrive and transform, and sends the enemy running for cover.
