Love, Part 1

Before speaking the truth in love (Eph. 4:15), be sure you’ve actually got the “in love” part down first . . .

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31).

“Love one another. In the same way I’ve loved you, love one another. This is how everyone will recognize you’re my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other” (John 13:34b-35).

“Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay” (1 Peter 4:8-9).

“I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting anything in return. I promise, you’ll never regret it. Live out this God–created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we’re at our worst. Our Father is kind, so you be kind” (Luke 6:35-36, MSG).

“The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law that can stand against these things” (Galatians 5:22-23).

“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13).

“For God so loved the world . . .”
