Stop giving your heart and mind to those who constantly point at what you’re not, instead of focusing on the words of those who speak to who you really are. If you let the negativity of others shape your identity, you’ll end up becoming like them, and do the same thing to someone else.
If you’re still determined to be defined by the opinions of someone else, ask Jesus how he sees you. You’ll discover he hasn’t just been leading you to a resting place, he’s been transforming you to become one.
“The Lord your God is with you. With his might, he will rescue you, and give you victory. And with his love, he will give you rest, and celebrate you with joyful songs” (Zephaniah 3:17).
