Defining Your World

What you do is important, but don’t let yourself be defined by it. The world God has for you is so much bigger and better than that. Don’t let your identity rise and fall with your circumstances, paycheck, or the judgment of others toward you, most of whom are doing it out of their own stress and insecurity.

Your main job as God’s child, friend, and disciple is to cultivate your identity in Him, learning to respond to who He wants to be for you right now, what He wants to work on in your heart and mind, and how He’s equipping you to become all He sees you as.

That growing relationship with the Lord is what heals, energizes, and sets you free to have peaceful, joyful, brilliant, breakthrough thoughts toward everyone and everything. Every moment you spend in His presence, you are soaking in His favor, making you effective, wise, creative, positive, attractive, and influential. You’re becoming like Him.

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light” (Matthew 11.28-30).
