Hell, No

“God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear…He will provide a way out to sustain you.” (1 Corinth. 10.13)

We’ve all heard or read the saying “God won’t give you more than you can handle.” Most assume it’s a quote from the Bible, but it’s not. This world can be so hard at times, so much more difficult than our minds can make sense of. But God isn’t the one trying to hurt you. He doesn’t kill or disease or curse people to teach them a lesson. He isn’t piling on more and more to see how much you can take. The world is suffering from a lack of His goodness and grace, and we’ve all had experience with that lack.

The enemy of your soul will, however, try to exploit how you respond to that lack. When you are faced with difficult circumstances, he tries to overwhelm your heart and mind to tempt you out of your identity, out of who you are in Jesus. Instead of being able to bring yourself to a place of peace in God, what you’re facing takes control, and you spend all your energy trying to alleviate your pain and trying to survive.

This is where God steps in front of the devil and says, “Hell, no.” With every trial of life you face, God provides a way to deal with it in His presence and overwhelm it with grace, instead of you getting overwhelmed by fear, or stress, or frustration. Whatever you’re facing right now may seem all consuming, but God is right there with you, offering you all the grace, peace, wisdom, and love you need to overcome it and actually upgrade your identity instead of having it crushed. Living from upgrade to upgrade, from glory to glory, in God is what transforms the lack in this world.
