The Brilliance of Patience

aquaman

Patience is a believer’s untapped superpower. As far as fruits of the Spirit, patience certainly isn’t as celebrated as love, joy, peace, or kindness. Based on popularity, if patience were a superhero, it would probably be Aquaman.

Patience does mean to persevere, to never give up, often in difficult circumstances. You know that. We’ve all been there, or are there. But it’s so much more. The word “wait”, as in “wait on the Lord”, doesn’t mean you’re on your own until He has time for you. It doesn’t mean you need to just suck it up and paint a smile on your face. It means to wrap yourself in God’s presence, to completely surround yourself in His love for you, even if you don’t yet know what the next step is.

Patience is a superpower because every time you give your unresolved circumstances and relationships to God, every time you choose to live in His presence no matter what’s going on, He gives back to you a deeper love, a greater peace, a more powerful joy, and a kindness that transforms lives. Patience is a super-powered paradox in which waiting on God actually accelerates all the other areas of your life in Him.

You may be used to being weakened by anything requiring patience, but maybe that’s because you’ve been doing it on your own. God is inviting you to live so powerfully in Him, no situation or person is able to drain your life. He wants to show you how to thrive in Him so much that every situation needing patience gives you strength.

“Wait on the Lord. Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14).

  1. I’ve been surfing on-line greater than 3 hours
lately, but I never found any fascinating article like yours.
It is pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers
made good content as you did, the net will
likely be much more useful than ever before.

    1. Thank you so much Kristen. That’s one of the most kind and encouraging comments I’ve ever received.
