In the Old Testament, watchmen were those who relentlessly looked for the enemy outside their walls. But in the New Testament, watchmen joyfully look for Jesus everywhere they go.
“Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? And when did we see You a stranger and welcome You, or naked and clothe You? And when did we see You sick or in prison and visit You?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you did it to Me'” (Matt. 25).
In the Old Testament, if an ill person touched you, you were considered “unclean,” and temporarily outcast. But in the New, when you touch hurting people, they get healed, renewed, blessed, and accepted.
“Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached Jesus and knelt before Him. ‘Lord,’ the man said, ‘if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.’ Jesus reached out and touched him. ‘I am willing,’ He said. ‘Be healed!’ And instantly the leprosy disappeared” (Matt. 8).
In the past, you were largely on your own, and needed religious ritual to connect to God. But now, He’s as close as your own heart.
Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing…As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Abide in My love” (John 15).
Don’t let anyone, or any circumstance, twist how you see, think, and live to a time before Jesus redeemed your life.
