Sometimes, people use the phrase “new normal” to help you adjust to a difficult new situation, and emotionally cope with pain, loss, and limitation. But, when God says “new normal,” he’s offering a more empowered identity, not a lesser one. No matter what hell is going on around you, he is completely committed to transforming you into the whole, strong, peaceful, joyful, brilliant overcomer he sees in you.
You know what it’s like to let pain, fear, and hopelessness define your identity and vision. But now it’s time to let your New Normal identity agree with who Jesus says you are, and what’s possible in your life, no matter what’s happening around you.
“The Angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said, ‘The Lord is with you, valiant warrior!’
Gideon replied, ‘Valiant warrior? Lord, what can I do? Look at me—my family has no power, and I’m the least of them all.’
The Lord responded, ‘But I am with you . . . so go forward in the great strength and purpose I’ve given you’” (Judges 6, paraphrased).
