You are a beloved, celebrated son or daughter of God. You don’t have to beg him to listen or pay attention to you. His delight is to know your heart and for you to know his. When you pray, recognize when you’re relating to God more as an orphan than his child, begging him in fear for what you already have in his love. Jesus called God “Our Father,” not “The Distant and Inconsistently Accessible Supreme Being.” Your Father wants to teach you to pray in the intimacy of his presence, in agreement with all the grace, peace, joy, wisdom, kindness, and incredible love he has for you.
“You are sons and daughters of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26).
“This is the day the Lord has made, so we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).
Since God has made this day, and you’re his kid, you own this day. Take a breath, smile at that revelation, and let yourself live every moment of it fully.
