Consider Joy

“Consider it pure joy when you’re surrounded by circumstances that test your heart” (James 1:2).

This isn’t God telling you to push down your feelings, and “fake it ’til you make it.” There isn’t one. “Consider it pure joy” means you’re empowered by Jesus to live in joy despite your circumstances. Even when what you’re dealing with feels completely overwhelming, the grace God is making available for you is far greater than the situation itself.

Instead of letting this day drain you, you’re going to stay aware of God’s presence, becoming stronger, wiser, and more joyful as you listen to what he’s saying about your relationships, your circumstances, and most of all, you. Looking at your life through his joy means you’re able to breathe.

Breathe.
