Part of your new life in Christ is having the power to let go of your old one. You are a new creation in Christ, but the negative patterns you’ve learned throughout your life still need to be displaced. Every time you recognize one of those old patterns trying to take control of your circumstances, it’s an opportunity to stop, take a deep breath, and let God speak to them instead.
That may seem simplistic, but it’s in that growing revelation of his presence you’ll find all the peace, joy, wisdom, and confidence you need to overwhelm the old mindset and thrive in the new.
“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven . . . Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him” (Colossians 3:1a, 10).
