I’ve been meditating on Ecclesiastes 3:10-13 for quite a while. This is the NKJV:
“I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God.”
This is my paraphrase. I wrote it for me, as a personal 2020 mission statement, but maybe it’s for you too:
”I know the purpose God has given to us all. It’s completely humbling, because it’s so wonderful, and so big, it’s impossible without him. It’s this: he makes everything, and everyone, absolutely beautiful—in their identity in him, and their time here on earth. But even though he has signed his eternal masterpieces with his love, not everyone recognizes him, or realizes who they are in him. No matter the circumstances, our purpose is to live in such a growing revelation of God’s joy, and so greatly overflow the goodness we experience in him, everyone will know how beautiful he is, and how beautiful he wants to make their lives.”
