“Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while” (Mark 6:31).
If you feel like you’re in a spiritual and emotional desert—isolated, unnoticed, and little lost, it can be hard not to feel like it’s some kind of punishment or abandonment. But God’s wilderness is just the opposite. He’s invited you here to rest, heal, and rejuvenate.
In this place, he’s reset your heart to recognize what’s truly important, and renewing your mind to brilliantly invest in what’s important with all the love, wisdom, talents, and resources he’s blessed you with.
This season isn’t easy, but it’s not going to drain and diminish your life. In fact, it’s going to strengthen and transform it. Every day you’re growing stronger, wiser, and bolder in his love. When you start the next part of your journey, it’s going to be with a greater revelation of who he is, and who you are in him.
Don’t let yourself get stressed about how long you’ll be here, or frustrated looking for a way out. Let this be the day you see this place as he does. It’s not a desert—it’s his garden. It’s where you get to come any time you desire, to reset your heart and renew your mind. Let him lead you step by step. This is your place of upgrade with Jesus.
“Who is this arising from the wilderness, leaning on her beloved? She looks like the person we knew, but transformed now—strong, confident, and joyful” (Song of Songs 8:5, paraphrased).
