A lot of bad choices come from feeling trapped by what pain won’t let you forget, what shame judges you deserve, and what fear threatens you could lose. Don’t let yourself be tortured, torn down, or terrorized into believing you have to fix yourself before you can be loved by God. I know that seems easier said than done. But you’re not the one doing it. He is.
You are loved beyond human comprehension, and can not be unloved. Negative thinking can obscure you from believing that, but it’s still true, because that’s who Jesus is. It’s not about constantly earning freedom. It’s about letting his love transform you into a truly free person.
“God is love” (1 John 4:8).
“Jesus has set us free—not partially, but completely and wonderfully free. We must always cherish this truth, and stubbornly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past” (Galatians 5:1).
