“Wake up, you living gateways! Lift up your heads, you eternal doors of destiny. Welcome the King of Glory, for he is about to come through for you” (Psalm 24:7).
Maybe part of the problem with the world is that our heads are down so much. We spend hours a day staring down at our phones and computers. We look down on anyone who disagrees with us. And even if we’re not lost in our devices or arrogance, so many of our heads are hung in exhaustion, hopelessness, and so many kinds of fear—fears of rejection, failure, disappointment, and the fear there will never be enough, no matter what we do.
Lift up your head. Look at the life all around you. See the love God has for people you don’t like. Keep looking. No matter what’s happening in your relationships and circumstances, there are signs of his love for you everywhere, a love containing all you need to deal with everything you’re facing. Look fear in the face until it breaks. Look people in the eye until they’re blessed. Look at yourself as God does, and you’ll never need to look down again.
