Empty Hands, Full Heart

When everyone and everything seems to be against you, and you’d like to respond by giving life the finger, first take a moment to open your hand. Open both of them, and let go of the extra burdens you’ve been carrying, the expectations you’ve been juggling, and the broken pieces of your world you’ve been trying to hold together.

Under all that are the good things which make up who you really are. See them again—the blessings, miracles, breakthroughs, love, hope, and joy God has provided. And inside you, all the grace you need to brilliantly and powerfully deal with what’s yours, and the wisdom to release what isn’t.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly” (Matthew 11:28-30, MSG).
