Another Peace of the Puzzle

“For the kingdom of God is . . . righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17).

Peace is part of your kingdom inheritance. You know that. But pain, fear, and the chaos of this world keep trying to steal it by overwhelming you enough to forget its source.

You really do have the ability to bring yourself to a state of peace, no matter what’s going on around you. But remember who governs that state. Jesus is the Prince of Peace—it’s an innate part of his character, and his kingdom. And you’re his completely loved and celebrated royal child, which means peace is part of who you are, not something you ever have to perform or beg for.

With one word—one thought—his Holy Spirit is there to comfort your heart, renew your mind, and restore your peace. Every day that you let him, he will grow your peace until it’s no longer just a defense, but an immeasurably powerful grace you live and release over your past, into every opportunity and difficulty, and to all your relationships.

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled and afraid. I’m imparting a gift to you—my peace. Not the fragile, conditional peace the world knows, but my peace of complete wholeness and uncontainable blessing” (John 14:27, paraphrase).
