“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, and his love endures forever” (Psalm 136:1).
The word for “love” in Psalm 136 is “hesed,” which is love to the nth degree. It means loving kindness, compassion, goodness, mercy, favor, faithfulness, and more. It repeats 26 times in this one psalm, declaring over and over who God is. It shouts out he is good and kind, and that his love for you never changes.
Read the verse (out loud, if possible) until you can see all the ways his goodness has been showing up in your life. No matter how difficult the path ahead looks, declare it until you can feel his “hesed,” not just as a word, but as the renewing, strengthening embrace it is from your heavenly Father.
