“Do not make yourself stressed, anxious, or sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength, your refuge, your tank” (Nehemiah 8:10).
Ok, so your Bible translation probably doesn’t say “tank”, but that’s the implication—God’s joy is your mobile fortress, an impenetrable armor around your mind and heart.
We can look at our circumstances, and overwhelm ourselves with thoughts of all that could go wrong. But genuine joy frees you to see yourself, your circumstances, and everyone you meet as he does, and to delight in all he tells you is possible. His joy overwhelms the enemy’s lies, and clears the path ahead of you. Enjoy your tank ride today.
