“Seriously? I can’t believe I screwed up again. I’m so stu–”
Stop. Before you finish that judgment—that curse—against yourself, take a breath. You’re not stupid. You’re not a failure. You’re brilliant, and amazing. And standing in your heavenly Father’s love and grace, you get to challenge any self-talk that produces hopelessness, worthlessness, and anxiety.
Displace what’s overwhelming your mind by focusing on what’s overflowing God’s heart: you are completely loved, totally resourced, and fully empowered by him to thrive, regardless of your circumstances. Speak kindly to yourself, because God is always kind toward you.
“It’s the goodness and kindness of God which leads us to repentance, to completely changing how we think and live” (Romans 2:4b, paraphrase).
