Dawn

When dawn reveals the damage the storm has done in the night, don’t give in to hating the day, or you’ll be in agreement with the rage of the storm, and just as destructive to everyone around you.

Quiet your mind and heart. Let Jesus breathe his peace and joy into them, until you can breathe without being overwhelmed with stress. Until you can think without being controlled by worry. Until you can feel how much you’re loved.

When you’re ready, speak life. Bless everyone and everything. Heal wounds. Restore whatever’s broken. Overwhelm chaos with peace, and despair with joy, which are so much more powerful than any storm.

“When there are tears in the night, let the Lord’s joy overwhelm the pain like the dawn dispels the dark” (Psalm 30:5, paraphrase).
