People can be . . . difficult. But their attitudes and behavior shouldn’t be allowed to poison yours. Don’t let yourself fall into making people earn your approval before you’ll express love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness to them. Those are fruits of a relationship with the Holy Spirit, not the rewards of an embittered judgment.
You can modify behavior through fears of rejection and punishment, but the only way to change someone’s heart is to change your foundation. Ask Jesus to help you let go of your “I’ll love you if,” and to show you how to live in his “I love you, period.”
