During difficult times, many of us have begged God for more faith to deal with what we were facing. If that’s you right now, it may help to remember what you’re looking for isn’t some ephemeral, mystical force you have to keep working for to have in your life.
Faith is the overflow of your intimacy with Jesus. It’s the extraordinary outworking of his infinite love for you, evidenced in your spiritual, emotional, and physical life. Every choice you make from inside his love transforms and grows you, and blesses, heals, restores, and resources the world around you.
Faith is what life looks like from heaven’s perspective. And since you’re already “seated in heavenly places” (Ephesians 2:6) because of your relationship with Jesus, you get to see and say what he does about everyone and everything in your life. Faith isn’t something you earn from God, it’s who you are in him.
“The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see” (Hebrews 11:1, MSG).
