Your brain wants answers, but your heart wants hope. That’s why God speaks to your heart first, because hope doesn’t disappoint. Hope is how love sees the world, because love anticipates experiencing the goodness of God, regardless of the situation.
When your heart is at rest in God’s love, then he can speak to your mind about how to deal with your circumstances, in agreement with your confident hope.
Take a step back from trying to figure everything out, and go after hope instead. Don’t just wait for it. Thank and praise him for every good thing in your life, until the fears of loss, failure, and rejection have lost their power.
Then let him speak to your heart and transform your thinking. Let him love you in the situation you’re in, and let his hope show you the way through it.
“Hope doesn’t disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who is always with us” (Romans 5:5).
“Lord, my heart has heard you say, ‘Come and talk with me.’ And with all my heart, Lord, I’m listening'” (Psalm 27:8).
