What Do You See?

Close your eyes for a moment, and think about your day. What do you see? If it’s a picture full of anxiety, take an emotional step back. Breathe. You’re going to let Jesus change what you see. You’re not going to look at today from anything less than his perspective any more. Not your family, not your job or coworkers, not your house, car, or bills, and certainly not yourself.

Look and listen for all the ways he’s showing you his goodness. Instead of dwelling on what could go wrong, recount his blessings and encouragements. Let your happiness take root and grow in what he tells you about yourself, instead of letting your circumstances determine how happy you’re allowed to be.

I know renewing your mind to think like Jesus isn’t always easy. There are days it takes everything you have, until all you have is him. But that’s kind of the point: you’ve got this, because he’s got you.

Close your eyes again. Now what do you see?

“You will show me the path of life, because your presence is full of joy” (Psalm 16:11a).
