Every winter, mustard seeds reappear in the vineyards, sown by vintners to help suppress fungal pathogens and root-killing nematodes. When they’re plowed under in the spring, they also provide nutrients to the vines.
The thought that the seed Jesus chose to represent faith protects and nourishes the symbol of joy, healing, blessing, and his own blood, is deeply powerful and beautiful to me.
It may seem hokey, but it reminds me that no matter what “pathogen” attacks, God is always caring for you, and providing all you need to thrive in every season.
