Turning the Tide

Something I try to remind myself of when things aren’t going as well as I’d like:

With every negative experience, you’re learning more about what doesn’t work, what you don’t want, and what isn’t you. I know it’s not easy, but if you learn to see the hidden value contained in difficult seasons, you don’t have to default to old ways of dealing with stress, frustration, failure, or even pain.

Your circumstances never have to control you again. You can deal with them purposefully by bringing them immediately to God—before they even have a chance to damage your heart and mind. Ask him how he sees things, who he wants to be for you in them, and how to best deal with them.

Breathe. Focus on how much you’re loved, and on everything you have to be thankful for. Know that all the time you’ve taken to pray and patiently wait on God, he’s been using to heal, renew, equip, empower, and encourage you to thrive in the next season of your life.
