What we’re going through is difficult—so difficult this may seem a nonsensical, pointlessly religious thing to say. But I truly believe this is less about the virus, and more about who God wants to be for you through all this, and who you’ll be when it’s over.
If that makes any sense to you, then go ahead and ask God: “Who do you want to be for me right now?” How do you see these crazy things? How do I respond to you, instead of reacting to fear?
Jesus is completely concerned with what you’re going through. But he’s not worried about how to deal with any of it. What he’s focused on most is who you’re becoming in him through all this. He sees who you can be, and is totally committed to empowering, equipping, and encouraging you to get there.
When you have a moment alone (most of you have more than one right now):
Close your eyes.
Let your shoulders relax.
Take a few deep breaths.
Focus on how much you’re loved, and let go of imagining how much you could lose.
Now listen for his voice with your heart.
Jesus is right there with you, with all the faith, hope, and love you need.
Ask.
