You’re allowed to be happy. That seems like a ridiculous thing to write, but we agree with so many lies far more ridiculous that rob us of the joyful life God intends.
You don’t have to live in regret or shame. You don’t have to appease bitter people to keep from offending them. You don’t have to honor the constraints or limiting beliefs of family, friends, media, politicians, or anyone that demands you be as miserable and cynical as they are to earn their approval. And you don’t have to live in dread of loss, rejection, or pain.
You have permission to smile and laugh.
You have permission to be positive, content, fulfilled, and peaceful.
You have permission to live in the salvation, healing, and freedom Jesus has won for you on the cross.
You have permission to wake up and look forward to the day with the expectation of seeing God’s goodness.
“Instead of shame and dishonor, you will enjoy a double share of honor. You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours” (Isaiah 61:7).
