I bought a coffee that turned out to be bitter and burnt, yet watery and weak at the same time. Interesting, but gross. I hadn’t tried it at the coffee shop because I was in a hurry. By the time I realized how awful it was, I was already down the road heading to a meeting, and didn’t have time to go back and get something different.
I took another sip, partly because I didn’t want to waste it, and partly because there’s that thought in your head that if you keep trying it, it might get better. But it doesn’t. So, when I arrived at my meeting, I threw out the cup of disappointment, and found something better.
It may seem little, but it was a good reminder to not to let myself wallow in the bitterness of unfulfilled expectations, and that life really is too short to drink bad coffee.
