Choose Your Reality

“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say it: Rejoice!” (Phil. 4:4).

Rejoicing is one of the most powerful acts you can do. It can shift your mindset from death to life. But it’s not always easy. It’s not just singing your favorite worship songs. It’s laying down your fears of failure, rejection, and loss, and letting God overwhelm the space they took up in your heart and mind with all the love, joy, and peace he has for you.

Rejoicing sometimes comes with emotion, but it’s always a choice, a determination to celebrate God’s grace, goodness, and kindness toward you, no matter how you feel. It’s joyfully accepting who God says you are, and it’s choosing to see others in light of the love God has for them, rather than in the dark of their offenses against you.

Rejoice. Not because you’re supposed to, or because you’re trying to perform to get God to notice you. You already have his undivided attention and unceasing love. Rejoice because it’s the reality you choose to live in.
