In Jesus’ Name

“Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, so your joy may be full” (John 16:24).

So often we turn this verse into some kind of incantation, rather than an invitation. We tack “in Jesus’ name” onto the end of our prayers more out of habit than purpose. But “in Jesus’ name” is so much more. It means in his authority, in his character, in his nature. It means you’ve been with him so much, you’re becoming like him. More and more you’re seeing life from his point of view, and all the love, grace, peace, joy, power, and transformation that’s available for everyone and everything.

“In Jesus’ name” is agreeing with what he’s saying, and living what he’s doing, until every last space in your heart and head are filled with joy, and everyone around you gets to experience the overflow of you living in his name.

Take time today to let Jesus show you his views of yourself, your relationships, and your circumstances. Let his joy displace every thought that doesn’t have his name on it.
