“I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!” (John 14:27).
Peace isn’t a treaty between you and God which has to be renegotiated every time you fail. Nor is it an elusive feeling dependent on your circumstances. Because Jesus IS peace, so are you. It’s a foundational part of your new nature in him. He said he was giving us his peace, not as the world gives—with conditions and strings, and only as long as it suits him.
The peace he’s imparted to you is part of your spiritual DNA, your permanent completeness, confidence, and calm. Because Jesus won peace for you through his death and resurrection, you never have to earn it. Which means you get to think in peace, feel in peace, and live toward everyone in peace, overflowing it into every relationship and circumstance.
Peace is the state of your mind, the strength of your heart, and the transforming power in your voice. There’s no negativity around you more powerful than the peace inside you.
