“The Lord directs and provides for every step of those who have a valiant heart. He delights in them on their journey. They may fall down, but they will never be cast aside. The Lord holds upholds them with his hand” (Psalm 37:23-24, paraphrase).
If my thoughts are consumed with what could go wrong, or fearing there won’t be enough, this psalm doesn’t answer my questions. But if I hear it with my heart, it’s a promise from God: “I am with you—take my hand, and walk this way with me.”
We think we’re most capable when we have all the answers. But often, the more we try to figure everything out, the more confused, frustrated, discouraged, and overwhelmed we get. We’re really at our strongest when we lean on his strength. Be encouraged that God loves to give you the desires of your heart as you delight in him (Psalm 37:4). He will never abandon you (Hebrews 13:5). And nothing can separate you from his love (Romans 8:18-39).
That’s really what you need to know more than anything else right now—that you are loved, you are not alone, and there is a next step to take with him. He has all the peace, wisdom, joy, and courage you need for all you’re facing. Take his outstretched hand, and the next step with him.
Father, I pray for everyone reading this a revelation of your love so powerful that they can see themselves, their circumstances, and their next step with all the joy, grace, and confidence you do.
