“Satan has desired to sift you like wheat” (Luke 22:31). The kind of sifting Jesus was referring to was hitting the grain with a stick and tossing it in the air until it completely came apart. Anyone else feel beat up and thrown to the wind like that sometimes?
But.
Don’t give in. Not to fear, frustration, persecution, or even pain. Jesus says the same thing to you he did to Peter: “But I have prayed for you, that your faith would not fail” (Luke 22:31-32).
With all your heart, and with all your mind, know this: your faith is sourced in God’s love for you. Not in perfect performance, or people’s approval, but in his unfailing love. He’s inviting you to be transformed by the revelation of that love, so much so it overwhelms and heals all the enemy has said or done, and gives you the joyful confidence to live this day really well, no matter what kind of sift you have to deal with.
