When you’re having a hard time distinguishing God’s voice from the chaos in your head, it may help to remember what he doesn’t sound like first. Any thought that opens a door for fear, hopelessness, or resentment is never from him.
When you recognize they’re not his, and therefore not part of who you really are, you’ll find you have the grace and strength to let them go, and open your heart to all the love, joy, and peace he’s actually been speaking to you.
His thoughts toward you are so wonderful, so good, and so full of life. Stay in them. If you fail, learn from it and rise again. And again. And again, until hearing his voice is as natural as breathing.
Breathe.
“My plans for you are never harmful. Every thought I have is of increasing your peace and wholeness, equipping you for a future of hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).
