Clarity

A guy was standing and texting in the middle of the parking lot lane, blocking my car, and it gave me a moment of clarity about how I’m in charge of my emotions.

At first I was annoyed at his self-absorption. But then I chose to be thankful, which is a pretty quick way to get from frustration to peace.

Thankful for a beautiful autumn day. Thankful to be able to to shop for everything on my list. Thankful for my family, my home, my life.

And, thankful for a car obviously running so well it was too quiet for this guy to hear as he texted his novel. And that’s when I chose to express my thankfulness with the horn—because I thought he could use a moment of clarity as well.
